This Is Your Fault

Marty and William stood on the wide green lawn at the center of their college campus, glaring at each other as students hurried past, pretending not to stare.

“This is your fault,” Marty shouted, yanking at the edge of his floral leotard as if it might suddenly explain everything. The fabric clung to curves that hadn’t been there a week ago, and the tulle skirt swished angrily around his tights as he paced. “If you hadn’t messed with that stupid experiment—”

“Oh, don’t even start,” William snapped back. He looked just as furious, his own leotard patterned with bright blossoms, his transformed body unmistakably feminine despite his familiar face. “You’re the one who pushed it past the safety limits. I told you to stop.”

They circled each other on the grass, voices rising. Marty gestured wildly, his balance thrown off by a body that still felt foreign, while William clenched his fists, struggling with the same disorienting mix of strength and unfamiliar proportions.

“You always do this,” Marty yelled. “You act like you’re the responsible one, but when things go wrong, suddenly it’s all on me.”

William stepped closer. “Because it is on you.”

For a moment, they just stared, breathing hard, anger vibrating between them. Then Marty shoved William in the chest. It wasn’t a clean push—more of a clumsy, furious lunge—but it was enough.

William stumbled back, caught himself, and lunged forward in return. They collided, feet slipping on the grass, skirts tangling as they grappled. Shouts echoed across the lawn as they grabbed at each other’s arms, the argument dissolving into grunts, curses, and raw frustration.

They struggled, locked together in a messy, angry tangle on the campus lawn, neither willing to back down as the fight erupted fully between them.
